Tax Talk Today is a Continuing Professional Education course provider approved by NASBA, CTEC, the IRS (for EAs and RTRPs-currently voluntary), and individual states listed below. Scroll down for information about each individual program, and purchase of credits.
All states that accept NASBA sponsored CPE credits also accept Tax Talk Today CPE credits for watching the show Live (Group-Internet Based) via the Internet and for QAS Self Study programs (archives and podcasts).

Earning CPE credits
Follow these simple steps to earn Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit for viewing or listening to a program.

- Click on CPE confirmation button when it appears in player window during live program. After program download your CPE Certificate of Completion.

Watch Tax Talk Today Archive or Podcast (QAS Self Study):
- Click here to view or listen to any of our Archived / Podcast QAS Self Study Programs.
- Take the online test for the specific program. Tests can be taken by clicking on the link labeled "Test for QAS SELF STUDY CPE Credit", on each Archive/QAS Self Study program page.
- Download your CPE Certificate of Completion.
IRS Return Preparer Office (RPO)
The IRS Return Preparer Office approves Tax Talk Today for CPE credit. The program series provides 15 new CPE credits annually:
- 2 Hours on Ethics
- 3 Hours on Federal Tax Law Updates
- 10 Hours on Federal Tax Law
According to the IRS, continuing education is not currently mandatory for paid tax return preparers. CE is not currently mandatory and participation in education programs is voluntary.
Enrolled Agents Credit
The IRS Return Preparer Office approves Tax Talk Today for CPE credit. EA's can earn up to 30 credits by watching Live (Group-Internet Based) and archived (QAS Self Study) programs.
CTEC Credit
Tax Talk Today has been approved by the California Tax Education Council to offer programs that provide 15 hours of federal credit towards the annual "continuing education" requirement imposed by the State of California.
A listing of additional requirements to register as a tax preparer may be obtained by contacting CTEC at P.O. Box 2890, Sacramento, CA 95812-2890, toll-free by phone at (877) 850-2832, or on the Internet at www.ctec.org.
All California paid tax preparers who are not attorneys, CPAs, or EAs, must renew or register with CTEC even if they are registered with the IRS. Tax Talk Today will report student hours of registered CTEC tax preparers directly to CTEC, however registration or renewal must be completed by the student.
CPE Credit
Earn 1 CPE credit (based on a 50 minute credit hour) by watching or listening to each Tax Talk Today program Live (Group-Internet Based), Archived Broadcast (QAS Self Study), or Podcast (QAS Self Study).
Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites or advance preparation requirements for these programs.
Learning Objectives
Tax Talk Today is an online series of programs designed to educate tax practitioners, tax professionals, tax educators, and students.
Programs will cover all levels and areas of tax practitioner information including Ethics, Federal Tax Law Updates, and Federal Tax Law; and qualify for CPE credit . These programs present an in-depth overview of tax topics.
The primary learning objective is to maintain or increase competency of tax practitioners through expert discussion, explanation and interactive questioning. The programs are designed for learners (tax professionals) to exercise a practical understanding of new and current tax policies, as well as the latest changes, in a complex and continually changing industry.
National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) Sponsor
Tax Talk Today, Inc. is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be submitted to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors through its website: www.learningmarket.org.
